Beer Review: Rushing Duck Divided By Zero IPA

IMG_2595

Rushing Duck a great smaller brewery located in Chester, NY is making some awesome beers in the Hudson Valley. This is Divided By Zero their Imperial Session, Pale-Black-Indian Pale Ale aka a West-Coast Style IPA. It uses a rotating bill of hops in every batch, this batch is citra and equinox. Divided By Zero comes in at 7%.

Appearance: Hazy straw yellow with a nice glow to it. Small head but some great lacing down the glass. Can art is clever mimicking the terrible blue screen of death.

Nose: Pine resin, mango, tropical fruit, grapefruit and pineapple. Very juicy, lots of pine coming through. A good west coast style nose.

Taste/Mouth: Solid dose of bitterness up front with some citrus and tropical fruit flavors. Good hit of the pine and resin coming from the nose and then finishes dry and bitter. Pineapple is there as well with a nice cereal malt backbone. No heat present, very drinkable beer.

Price/Availability: It is a brewery release and it is $13/4 pack which is pretty reasonable but would feel better at $11-$12.

Overall: A real solid IPA from Rushing Duck who if you get the opportunity to you should absolutely visit in Chester, NY. I could easily drink a ton of these and not get tired of it. I love the rotating hop varieties as well, making each batch a little different than the last. War Elephant is still my favorite RD beer though!

Grade: B+
